Scriptural Prayers for Unbelievers
Praying for the salvation of your friends and family is the best way you can pray for them! 1 Timothy 2:4 tell us that “God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
Here are ten ways to pray for your unbelieving friends and family members based in Scripture.
1) Pray that God would open their hearts to believe the Gospel.
“The Lord opened her [Lydia's] heart to respond to Paul's message.” (Acts 16:14 NIV)
2) Pray that God would open their spiritual eyes and remove spiritual blindness so they can believe the Gospel.
“…open their eyes, so they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God.” (Acts 26:18 NLT)
3) Pray that all deception (personal belief system , philosophies, or logic that contradicts God's word) will be overcome.
“The god who rules this world has blinded the minds of unbelievers. They cannot see the light, which is the good news about our glorious Christ, who shows what God is like. (2 Corinthians 4:4 CEV)
4) Pray that you or someone can share the logic of the gospel in such a clear and powerful way that it overcomes the unbeliever's personal logic or belief system.
“Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.” (Ephesians 6:19 NIV)
5) Pray that their mental strongholds will be demolished.
“We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NLT)
6) Pray that God would free them from the slavery to sin.
“But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.” (Romans 6:17-18 NIV)
7) Pray that God would extend His gift of grace to them.
“For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.” (Ephesians 2:8-9 GNT)
8) Pray for a revelation of Jesus.
“Jesus answered, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me.” (John 14:6 ERV)
9) Pray they come to understand God's love for them.
“Your love, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies...how priceless is your unfailing love.” (Psalm 36:5,7 NIV)
10) Pray they encounter other Christ-followers who can influence them toward salvation.
“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:6 NIV)
